Fundraising

We are fundraising because our Church House in Cambridge needs an uplift to make it fit for purpose in the 21st century. We are planning to extend the building with lift access suitable for disabled use. The extension will house a modern kitchen that can cater for events; and a disabled toilet/changing room. These additions will complement our existing church room and meeting room.

In addition the roof needs insulation, the lead water pipes must be replaced, the repeatedly flooded basement needs proper waterproofing.

These plans will mean easier access and better facilities, for all our members and for community groups who use our rooms.

Please help us to raise £300,000 to make this happen.

Interested in using the new space? In order to apply for funding we need to provide evidence that the facility would be used. We would be grateful for anyone who may be interested in using the facility to complete this short survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/RRL8FZW

How to get involved with the fundraising

We will be adding information soon regarding how you can get involved with our fundraising, such as events.

Why not have a coffee morning or afternoon tea?

How we can make the church accessible for all?

Currently the ground floor of the church building is accessed by eight external steps and in the hallway there are also several steps to access the small toilet and kitchen. We need to create level access to the ground floor level via a lift suitable for disabled use, in addition to lowering the hallway through to the community space so that all of the ground floor is on a single level. A fully equipped disabled toilet with an adult size changing bench will be created with a floor area of approximately 8m2. Also at the same level there will be modern kitchen facilities with a hatch through to the community room.

This development plan represents the minimum viable option of a development that meets the disabled access and use requirements. For more information about the accessible toilet facilities click here.

What space will there be at the end of the works, available for community use?

The community space consists of three rooms, two of which can be connected in order to create a big room:

Rear “church hall”- 30m2

Front “church hall” – 32m2

Community room – 32.4m2

Kitchen –  13.2m2

Standard toilet

Disabled toilet with large changing bench and hoist – 8m2
